Paul Haarman: Is It Possible To Be A Successful Blogger? 6 Things I Learned While Building My Blog

I’m a blogger with almost 2 years of experience under my belt. I started this blog to share productivity hacks and my love for traveling says Paul Haarman. Over the last couple of years, I’ve grown to become friends with many other bloggers too. One common goal most of these individuals have is to start their own blogs and achieve success. Although I can’t claim to know everything about blogging (because it’s such an evolving industry).

Here are 6 things that may help you get started on your journey toward becoming a successful blogger:

1. Determine what you want to accomplish with your blog

One of the first things any blogger must do is determine what they want to achieve. Whether it’s earning thousands of dollars every month or sharing valuable knowledge with your readers, there’s one thing that remains constant – You NEED a plan. Without having a goal for yourself, it becomes extremely difficult to work towards anything at all.

2. Quality versus Quantity

There are so many bloggers out there who constantly keep posting new content on their blogs without ever stopping to analyze whether their efforts are actually helping them achieve their goals. Most people fall into this trap because they’ve heard somewhere along the line “more content = more success”. Although that may be true to some extent, constantly cranking out new content even if it’s sub-par is not going to help you grow your blog.

3. How to get more traffic on your blog

This is something that all bloggers struggle with over time (even the ones that are successful). Getting people to click through and view posts on your blog isn’t as easy as other marketers make it sound like. It takes a lot of hard work and trial-and-error before you find out what works best for you. Here are some ways to drive targeted traffic towards your site:

a) Social Media –

Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest etc… If someone has never heard of your blog or doesn’t follow you yet, chances are they won’t just happen upon your website by chance! Instead, you need to let the world know about the existence of your blog so they can visit it too explains Paul Haarman.

b) Guest blogging –

If you want people to notice your work and help them find out whom you are, guest blogging is one of the best ways to do so. Most blogs will allow you to post content on their site if you agree to do the same for them. This will put your content in front of thousands (if not millions) of new eyeballs which will hopefully lead up to higher traffic numbers!

c) Email list building –

I’m sure most bloggers already have at least one email list that they use regularly (or even daily). If you’re currently using an email marketing service like MailChimp or Aweber, adding people to your list is extremely easy. You will reach out to these individuals directly whenever you post new content on your blog which in turn will hopefully drive even more traffic!

d) Paid advertising –

Although I haven’t tried paid advertising on my blog yet (it’s something that I’m thinking about trying in the future), it’s usually the best way to get more views on your site if everything else has failed already. Basically, you pay certain companies a set amount of money for each person or page view they bring to your website. Some examples are Facebook ads, Google Adwords etc…

4. Sharing other people’s content

One thing that many successful bloggers do is share high-quality content created by others. It’s a great way to establish relationships with other high-authority sites and bring even more exposure to your blog says Paul Haarman.

5. Promoting your content using photos

When it comes to promoting new posts on your site, many bloggers will usually use a short description or a screenshot of the post they want you to view. This is actually one of the things that I see done wrong most often because it becomes hard for readers to visualize what you’re trying to convey. Instead, try adding a relevant photo from the post as well as some text next to it! You can also use Canva (a free online graphic design tool) which will greatly enhance your posts by keeping things simple and ensuring each image looks perfect! Here are some great examples of this in action:

6. Curating great content

If you want your blog to have a good reputation, always make sure that the content you publish is of high quality! People are only going to continue visiting your website if you provide them with material they feel is worth reading and sharing with their peers. Spending more time on creating and promoting new posts will lead to higher traffic numbers over time.

Conclusion:

These six simple steps can help any blogger become more successful with their online ventures, so give them a try if you haven’t already explained Paul Haarman. What other techniques do you use to increase blog traffic?
